The graduating students of Cathedral Catholic High School, along with their teachers and families, celebrated the baccalaureate liturgy last night in the Claver Center to come together to celebrate Mass one last time.

“It’s something that all Catholic schools have always had,” Assistant Dean of Mission and Ministry Mr. Nicholas Hurt said. “It’s a celebration of the seniors, and we do it in a way that goes along with the prayer of the Church.”

The baccalaureate liturgy is also a way to celebrate Mass together with the seniors, their families, and the CCHS community and to pray for them as they go off to college, Mr. Hurt said.

“The readings are selected for the occasion, with the permission of the priests celebrating the Mass,” Mr. Hurt said. “It’s a celebration, and it’s a way for us to celebrate something as big as a high school graduation.”
