United we stand, divided we fall; Fall rally spirit unprecedented

CCHS students displayed record-breaking spirit at the fall sports rally last Friday in the Claver Center.

The Alice in Wonderland themed rally began with the presentation of the Homecoming Court, as well as cheer and dance team performances. The “mance team” was brought back from last year as senior football players performed a choreographed dance number.

Next, the traditional “Our House” cheer competition between classes for the most spirited, loudest cheer took place, and this rally’s outbursts were particularly competitive, especially between the Class of 2016 and the Class of 2017, whose competitiveness and spirit reached new levels.

At one point, Cathedral Catholic High School president Mr. Steven Laaperi took the microphone and spoke to settle everyone down, requesting the student body cheer “Our House” once more as a proud, united school.

“This is…” Mr. Laaperi said, and then a culmination of voices yelling “Our House” echoed and rumbled through the gym. The four classes emptied the bleachers, spilling onto the basketball court to celebrate in unprecedented fashion.
