Girls Varsity Volleyball Wins Hawaii Tournament-Now #1 in the Nation

The Cathedral Catholic women’s varsity volleyball team has a history of success, winning the CIF open division championships last year in 2021. Last year, the Lady Dons also finished #7 in the nation. As of September 8th 2022, the team is now ranked #1 in the country by PrepVolleyball, with just a few weeks into the season.

The Team is eager to continue their 11-0 win streak, riding off of a win at the Kamehameha Volleyball Tournament just last weekend. The Hawaii Tournament was the Lady Dons first tournament of the 2022 fall season, where they took first place, defeating some tough competition! Head Coach Juliana Conn compliments the girls ability to “come together as a team even after only a few weeks of practice” and that they were able to “find a good rhythm offensively making us a threat from all the positions on the net”. Some star players from the Tournament who achieved All-Tournament All-Stars were Julia Blyashov, Kapiolani Coleman, Maya Evens, and Ryleigh Patterson. A key player on the team, Julia Blyashov, further elaborated on the Lady’s Dons win saying that “our girls have amazing team chemistry, and we not only play for each other, but for the whole Dons community.” The Kamehameha Tournament win was only the start to their season, as they will continue to work hard and dominate their competition. Cathedral Catholic Lady Dons Varsity Volleyball plans to take home the CIF open division title yet again, and take their win streak all the way to states.
