Seniors bond as friends at Overnighter.

Seniors bonded with their friends Saturday night at their first class event, the Senior Overnighter. Organized by CCHS teacher and Senior Class Monitor Ms. Melissa Padgett, the overnighter turned out to be a complete success. “There were fewer kids than usual, but it all worked out well spacing wise, and I appreciate the good behavior,” Ms. Padgett said.

Held in the Guadalupe Center, the event as a whole was packed with fun-filled activities. The seniors were busy all night, from playing video games, to watching Bruce Almighty and dancing the night away. Guys yelled cocky notions as they played ping pong in the lobby, while some tired seniors gave up on bets to stay awake all night in the theater. The whole ground was covered in a sea of colorful sleeping bags and overstuffed pillows.

At first some questioned how much fun they were really going to have. The mass that kicked off the event was abnormally hot, which made many upper classmen uncomfortable. However, when Father Kelly shed his white garments to reveal his light blue shirt and khakis, the mood quickly changed. “I wish that they woke us up at seven,” said senior Michaela Murrah, “But it was fun, I like to meet new people in our senior class. It’s definitely worth going to in your senior year.”

And many felt the same. Senior and Director of CCTV Matthew Eisendrath, said, “It was really fun. It started out with a plethora of dancing. The liturgy was vivacious, and it was nice to be around all of my friends for a night.”

The next morning, when it was time for that five o’clock wake up call, many teary-eyed seniors dragged both their things and themselves to CCHS’ front gates. Barely able to mumble words, they said goodbye to their friends and joined their parents in parked cars, making up for lack of sleep on the way home.
