Homecoming: What to Expect

The Dons have been known for their incredible school spirit. One major contribution to this is Homecoming. The Homecoming dance will be the first all-school dance of the 2010-2011 school year. Like the rally and game, it promotes school spirit and unity.

The theme of this year’s Homecoming, “Dons r’ Us”, will influence the dance, rally, and game. The chariot races at the game’s halftime will be returning, but this year they will be toy-themed. The game will be against Lincoln High, and the Homecoming court will be awarded at halftime. Before the game, the Homecoming rally will take place in the gym. All of ASB has worked hard on the rally, and the theme will be a throwback to our childhoods.

Another hotly anticipated part of this week is the Homecoming dance. Like previous years, this year’s dance will be held in the gym. It will be similar to previous years, but will draw from the Dons r’ Us theme. “We’re also going to have a lot of toy-ish decorations at the dance,” said Skylar Brown, Vice President of ASB. “A lot of these decorations will be in 3-D.”

Many familiar aspects of the dance, such as the casino, will be returning. Many exciting new aspects can also be expected. “We have a whole bunch of new minds, so we have a lot more creativity”, said Brown. “It’s going to be a really great dance!”
