This past weekend, students arrived with suits and dresses ready to dance the night away. From dancing, to taking photos, everyone had a great time socializing with their friends. By the end of the night, Winter Formal was a hit and a memory that many students will never forget.

Formal this year was hosted at Petco Park in the western building. Compared to last year’s Air and Space Museum, students collectively found it drastically better. Teagan Conroy, ’28 says, “I enjoyed this dance more than last year because of how diverse and special the venue is.” Teagan was able to spend quality time with her friends and explore all the new activities. Silent disco, games, and a wider variety of snacks made for a night of their lives across three floors of fun.

The first level was filled with fun activities and games for people to spend time with their friends. The second level contained a dance floor with a DJ that got the school to party. The 3rd and final level was a rooftop with drinks and desserts and a stunning view overlooking the baseball field. With 3 levels of excitement, students had a blast and would recommend it again.

Ms. Schrimpf, a chaperone at the dance, said, “Students looked like they were having a blast exploring all the different spaces”. Most of the students were on the dance floor, but others were enjoying the night playing games and relaxing on the terrace. Reminiscing on the dance, Ms. Schrimpf says, Cathedral students will “always have this memory whenever they watch or go to a baseball game.”

The dance floor had tons of students singing, dancing, and having a great time. The music made it hard for anyone to stay seated for long. The students filled the dance floor with energy from the first song until the last beat of the night. Celebrating together, seniors shared their last winter formal at one of the best venues that San Diego has to offer, leaving all of them with gratitude.

Despite formal going well, ASB had a lot of preparation that went into the event. Leyla Ridgway ’28, a new member of ASB, had a great time planning the dance this year. She explains, “We had 2 different groups of students that each helped create something different for formal, like the posters around campus.”

However, with all of ASB‘s hard work came one big challenge. Ridgway elaborates, “The biggest challenge we faced was coming up with ideas that every student on campus would enjoy. We tried to make sure we would have interactive and creative activities for everyone.” With all of the help and determination of these students, everyone at Cathedral was able to have an amazing experience.

Whether students helped prepare for Winter Formal or just got ready and went, it was truly a night students will never forget. These memories are what high school is all about.
