With only five weeks until summer break, school is getting more stressful and more difficult to handle. Struggling with assignments and test preparation can cause a lot of frustration for students. Through NHS Tutoring, students can feel confident and get extra support from tutors who have been in the same shoes as all students.
The National Honor Society has many different subjects that they offer for tutoring. From math to language, students can pick the right tutor for them based on what each one has to offer. Summer Grant ‘27 states, “I’ve gotten to work with students and help them have academic breakthroughs.” Along with this, Summer notes that students have had increased confidence as they understand the topic more.
NHS helps with almost all levels of math, English, languages, sciences, and more. The most popular topics are Math and Science as they are the hardest subjects for students to grasp at the honors and AP level. Summer notes, “If anybody is looking for help in a subject, I would highly recommend any NHS tutoring.” Summer hopes that all students can realize how much they can learn from getting a tutor for a class they might be struggling with.
The head of NHS tutoring, Enzo Bernardo ‘26, says, “it allows you to build a bond with your classmates.” Even if it’s an older student, getting advice on high school and learning how to deal with hard work can help students. Enzo became the head of NHS tutoring as he really wanted students to get the help that they deserve here at Cathedral Catholic. “Gathering a bunch of people who are passionate about helping the community into one system is amazing,” he notes.
Tutoring is offered at Cathedral after school with over ten tutors to select from, based on the students area of growth . Many students don’t realize that the tutoring offered on campus is a free way to get their grades up quickly. NHS was also given a bunch of support from the Tech team to have their tutoring website on every iPad, called NHS Find A Tutor.
Mr. Caro, Head of NHS, says “students have an opportunity for one-on-one help with their specific problem.” He has wanted students on campus to find ways to improve their grades with the help of other students at Cathedral. “What NHS members do best is helping other people academically.” Mr. Caro also adds how you get to experience a human connection rather than trying to learn from a YouTube video. Students should take advantage of this free tutoring service offered on campus to help improve their grades right before finals.
At the end of the day, finals are creeping up fast, and students should be well prepared for tests by taking advantage of tutoring. Whether it’s reviewing main ideas or getting help on homework, the NHS is open to anyone who needs help. This could be the extra benefit that helps students succeed.

Hi Avery! I loved how you highlighted the benefits of in-person tutoring, specifically by other students, and guided readers toward academic help! Thank you for interviewing me 🙂
