Cathedral Catholic offers something special during the fall season. The Halloween costumes, sweet candy at Trunk or Treat, and cheers on Don’s Day all made the campus come alive. This year’s Halloween activities, along with Don’s Day, reminded everyone that CCHS isn’t just a school, but a community.
Following these opening festivities, the Halloween costume contest was one of the most exciting events of the season. Students and even teachers participated in the contest, bringing out creative, clever, and innovative costumes. Senior ASB member Cole Askins said the creativity stood out to him. “I really liked all the Dexter costumes, I saw a few, and they were super well dressed.”
However, senior ASB member Tessa Granieri thought that one costume truly stood out. “The Brady Palmer costume for sure stood out to me,” Granieri said. There were many funny costumes this year, but one student dressed up as the senior quarterback Brady Palmer, and many people thought it was hilarious. Granieri added, “My favorite Halloween moment was the costume contest, and seeing everyone’s creative costumes.”
After the excitement of the costume contest, the Halloween spirit continued with Trunk or Treat, when the parking lot at CCHS transformed into a kid-friendly Halloween event. Clubs, Honor Societies, and all kinds of students, decorated their car trunks and distributed candy to children. Askins explained, “A lot of communication with different clubs and participants goes into planning it. We like to make sure our trunk or treat is a great representation of our student body.” The event, run by the NHS, showcases the community and tradition that Cathedral Catholic maintains, and it held a perfect spirit for the start of Halloween.
During the week of Halloween, Don’s Day brought CCHS a whole new excitement. It welcomed 8th graders from middle schools to experience life at CCHS. Including a pep rally, performance, and energy all brought by CCHS students, Dons Days’ purpose was to show possible incoming freshmen the community and spirit here at Cathedral. Granieri says, “ASB puts a lot of effort into planning Don’s Day, there’s a welcome presentation, tours, and most importantly, a rally.” Askins mentions how much lively energy is needed to excite 8th graders, “We make sure to bring the energy, to get 8th graders excited about the campus, we make sure to get as hype as possible.”
Through Halloween costumes, trunks filled with candy, and a welcome to future Dons, the 2025 fall season at CCHS captured what the community is about: creativity, spirit, and fun. Student Life works tirelessly to plan these events, from the well-planned Dons Day that went amazingly, to organizing Trunk or Treat. These events wouldn’t be possible without all the members from our community’s dedication and leadership.
