The 68th Annual Grammy awards were held on February 1, 2026 at Crypto.com arena in downtown Los Angeles. Many were thrilled but at the same time, many were upset, whether it was about who won in a category, or what was said during a speech. This may have been the most talked about Grammys yet.
The Grammys opened up with an amazing performance of one of the most popular pop songs, “APT” by Bruno Mars and Rosé. An article from Digital Music News shares, “Their collaboration set an energetic tone for the evening, signaling a show that balanced spectacle with emotional depth.” Many other performances sparked conversation, such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and this year’s nominees for best new artist (Addison Rae, Alex Warren, KATSEYE, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, Sombr, and The Marías). Additionally, tributes were made specifically to music legends like D’Angelo and Ozzy Osbourne, and others were honored in between with a performance from Reba McEntire.
Moving onto fashion. Celebrities stunned in beautiful outfits, ranging from Tom Ford, to custom Schiaparelli. Jazmin Barrientos, a freshman at CCHS, when asked if there was an outfit she loved or hated, shared her thoughts, “The outfits that I liked the most were Olivia Dean and Karol G. For Olivia Dean’s outfit, I loved how it had a long/medium train, and the corset as the top was really cute, and for Karol G, that outfit just screams her, it shows who she is and it’s one of the colors that she would use a lot for her outfits in the music she makes.”
The Grammys were a chaotic night, with some saying wins were predictable, or not deserved. The winners however, were voted to win by the 1,400 members of the Recording Academy, which consists of artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers.
Which brings us to Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year, and Best Música Urbana Album for his album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. An article from NPR shares, “Bad Bunny made history – this was the first time a Spanish-language album has won album of the year – while also giving speeches addressing ICE raids in American cities and the humanity of the people affected.” Bad Bunny, at this point, was already known to be the performer for Super Bowl LX, and him winning these Grammys made people want to watch the Super Bowl to see what he was all about, giving him more publicity and global outreach.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA won record of the year for their song “Luther.” This award was announced by music legend Cher, with her hilariously saying, “The Grammy goes to Luther Vandross.”
This year’s Grammys may have been chaotic, but it sure was memorable. So, does this leave improvement for next year, or are we hoping it will be just as chaotic?
