2022 brought a lot of trials and tribulations to everyone, but someone who was put under a lot of pressure was Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. All throughout the year President Zelensky had to make tough decisions regarding Russia’s invasion into their country.

People in Ukraine as well as world wide were worried if President Zelensky was going to even make it alive by the end of 2022. This is because one of Russia’s main goals with the invasion of Ukraine was to capture and or kill the President and then take apart the government. But, nonetheless, he didn’t surrender to Russia’s invasion. He has fought all the way through.

President Zelensky stated, “As I see it, it’s my duty to go there and show them that Ukraine has returned, that it supports them. Maybe it will give them enough of a boost to last a few more days. But I’m not sure. I don’t lull myself with such illusions” (Time).

Currently, President Zelensky is doing all that he can to rebuild his country not only building wise, but their spirits as well and keep his citizens safe. He continues to put his people and their safety first which is a display of his selfless heart.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Spirit of Ukraine are the perfect winner to be the person of the year.
