Women will gather this Saturday, October 8, at the Sheraton Hotel in Carlsbad for a prayer breakfast put together by Fr. Martin and Fr. Richard of the religious order of Miles Christi. The theme of this prayer breakfast is “Fight the Good Fight the Faith.”
Prayer breakfasts began in 1952 when the U.S. Congress set aside the first Thursday in May as National Prayer Day. This is why President George W.H. Bush started the prayer breakfast in 1989.
The Miles Christi prayer breakfast is for women only, however, and women will gather to find useful ways to reach into their communities and hear the proclamation of the Good News. This event is meant to help women find ways to seek holiness in their morally collapsing society.
“Women need encouragement during this time to renew their spiritual lives and develop their spirituality in this society that is diminishing towards women,” said Father Richard.
The prayer breakfast will give women a chance to meet and get to know other like-minded women who want to live out their faith.
Besides the delicious breakfast that will be served, some of the activities that will be happening are talks about faith; confessions will also be heard.
Those wishing to participate should make reservations at www.mileschristi..org/prayerbreakfast.

The wonderful and fluent writer Laverne does it again. What a steal for the entire journalism staff at Cathedral!
