Movie Theaters Make a Comeback
Covid-19 took a toll on all of us. Many businesses were closed off and on for almost one year and people were forced to stay in their homes. One business that was affected greatly was the movie theaters. Yet, almost after three years post pandemic, the movie theaters are finally starting to regain momentum.
During the pandemic, the movie theaters were completely shut down. The movie theater industry struggled the most during this burdensome time. Even after they opened, business was still slow due to the fear of the virus. Not only did the theaters have to combat Covid-19, they also had to compete with streaming services that thrived during the pandemic.
After a slow and painful two years for the movie theaters, it started to pick up again with hit movies finally hitting the big screens. This summer, new movies were released. Movies such as “Elvis”, “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Minions: Rise of Gru”, “The Black Phone”, and “Thor: Love and Thunder” were big summer hits. These movies broke box office records. “Top Gun: Maverick” alone made 1.355 billion dollars.
Little by little, our society is finally returning to normalcy after almost three years. To this day, the movie industry is not back 100% as it was three years ago. Yet, a dramatic change has occurred over the last year. Currently, people are enjoying the movie theater experience once again.
