Varsity Volleyball puts up a good fight against TPHS Falcons, student section spirit beats all

Tonight, the Lady Dons Varsity Volleyball team took on the Torrey Pines Falcons in the Claver Center.

The Dons began the scoring with a kill by #12, Megan Faraimo. The first game went back and forth, stopping when the Dons called a timeout at 17-22, Falcons in the lead. First game ended 17-25, Falcons.

The second game was very close, #6 Courtney Clexton tied it up with four consecutive serves, Dons scoring them all. The energy in the gym was ecstatic, pumping the girls up for every pass, set and kill.

“The student section was absolutely amazing tonight,” Sophomore Isabella Parise said. “The support we felt from the cheers pushed us to play to our best potential.”

At 16-19 Falcons, the Dons called a timeout, then tied the game again at 19-19. The final score of the second game was 23-25, Falcons with a second win.

Third game, Falcons were up 21-15. #12 Megan Faraimo hit a kill, bringing the Dons back into the game. The final score of the third game was 20-25 in favor of the Falcons, making the Falcons the winner of the final match.

“We all worked as hard as we could to push through the match,” Sophomore Sarah Blacker said. “The student section stunned us all, big thank you to everyone who showed up, your support was awesome and we hope you all come back for the next game.”

The Lady Dons’ next game will be September 9 against Francis Parker at Francis Parker High School.
