May the rally spirit be with CCHS
January 27, 2016
Although the Winter Formal is still 10 days away, the Cathedral Catholic High School’s ASB will jump start the festivities when it hosts the Winter Rally Jan. 29 in the Claver Center.
The rally, which is the second rally of the school year, will follow the Winter Formal theme “May the Formal Be With You.” Many students report “liking” this year’s theme for the way it reflects current culture, considering the recent release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“The theme is awesome,” Montie Duggan ‘16 said. “It’s very with the times, but also a homage to the past.”
Taking place after second period, the rally will feature skits, class competitions and dance and cheer performances. In addition, the winter sports teams will be recognized.
“It’s always great to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our teams,” ASB Commissioner of Activities Amanda Wright ‘16 said. “The rally is a great place to recognize them in front of the whole school. You can expect lots of Star Wars characters, and of course, lots of class competitions.”
Class competitions took center stage during the Fall Rally, with the junior and senior classes demonstrating palpable school spirit.
“I really enjoy watching everyone represent their class in games and chants,” Tate Haynes ‘17 said. “It’s always really entertaining.”
Demonstrations of class and overall school spirit make for a lot of the excitement that takes place at the rallies. Each grade will have its own color to wear, thus fostering class bonding. Seniors will wear black, juniors will wear brown, sophomores will wear green and freshman will wear white.
“We really hope all of the classes show their pride by wearing their respective colors,” ASB Executive Treasurer Sean Carr said. “It’s a great way to create unity.”
With ASB’s planning and student participation, the rally will kick off the Winter Formal festivities, which also include Spirit Week next week.
