San Diego, Cathedral Catholic High School’s homecoming game on Friday, September 26, 2025, was a night to remember. Under Friday night lights of Manchester Stadium, the Dons faced the Granite Hills Eagles in front of a packed crowd of students, alumni, and families. Cathedral Catholic came out on top, earning another win for their season.
Pregame hype
The energy started hours before the kickoff. Alumni came back to celebrate, and students filled the stands in red, waving signs and chanting, “Roll Dons!” By the time the game started, the stadium was full of energy.
The Battle on the Field
Granite Hills came ready to play with their strong defense and athletic players. Five star junior Honor Fa’alave came up huge for the Dons. Cathedral’s athletic website states, “The Junior racked up 110 rushing yards on just eight carries including touchdown runs of 17 and 55 yards in the fourth quarter.” Cathedral Catholic’s quarterback, Brady Palmer set the tone throwing a 70-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Isaac Cook. Brady Palmer, proved why he’s one of the best in San Diego. He threw accurate passes, ran when needed, and kept the offense moving.
Halftime
As the half ended, the crowd was on fire with excitement ready to cheer on the cheerleading/dance team. The cheerleaders and dance team stormed onto the turf in formation. This year the cheer and dance teams have been collaborating during their electric halftime shows.
Standout Performances
• Honor Fa’alave: Career night with 110 rushing yards, 97 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
• Receivers: Isaac Cook Made big catches in big moments, including a clutch fourth-quarter grab.
• Defense: Stepped up late, forcing turnovers and stopping Granite Hills when it mattered most.
• Brady Palmer: Led the team with multiple touchdown passes and smart plays.
A HOCO to Remember
When the game ended, the stands filled with cheering students in red as the Dons celebrated with their families and alumni. The win wasn’t just about football, it also showed the meaning of Cathedral’s school spirit and tradition.
