El Cid 11/7/97 A Look at Past Dons Spirit, Tradition, and... Crime?!

Sarah Scherer, Staff Writer

This edition of El Cid, published on November 7th, 1997, highlights the ’97 homecoming festivities, the “senior overnighter” (formerly called “the six to six”, referencing the starting and ending times of the senior event, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.), the USDHS production of Thieves’ Carnival, and many more exciting events. One story addresses the controversial topic of diversity in the USDHS staff, while another reveals the fears of Dons in 1997. An editorial discusses the breaking-into of a vending machine, and a column by Editor-in-Chief Pat Finley proposes 10 ways to get over a loss to Saints.

Take a trip back in time to ’97 with this edition of El Cid. Take a look at our traditions, rivalries, and Dons’ spirit from a different angle, and gain appreciation and pride for how we have maintained our strong identity as Dons today.
