Welcoming grandparents

The Cathedral Catholic High School bi-annual Grandparents Day, an event that provides CCHS grandparents a chance to experience the school, took place yesterday in the Claver Center for freshmen and seniors and their grandparents.

“Grandparents Day began with an early dismissal for all our students,” executive assistant Mrs. Johnnie Voegtly said. “Students with grandparents in attendance met up at the Claver Center to enjoy mass, lunch and entertainment provided by our awesome students.”

The event provided students with a chance to see their grandparents and show them around the school they attend on a daily basis.

School administrators encouraged all grandparents to donate to the Grandparents’ Fund, a tuition-assistance program dedicated to helping CCHS families who suffer from unforeseen difficulties, such as job loss, natural disaster, serious illness, or death of a family member.

“The love and adoration that is visible in the grandparents eyes when they see their grandchild brings a smile to my heart,” Mrs. Voegtly said. “To witness the gentleness and reverence of the students as they greet their grandparents is amazing.”
