The Summer I Turned Pretty has been a popular show for the past couple of years and a popular book for even longer. The finale of the show ended in a surprise, leaving some people disappointed, while others really liked the ending. If you haven’t seen the show, the overall story is about the main character, Belly, having to choose between two brothers that she both falls in love with, and during the course of the show, there are surprises and a lot of plot twists.

Makayla Brennan ‘28, shared, “Well, I read the books first, so I was a little disappointed by the finale in the show because it was different from the books, but it was still good and fun to see it spice it up a little bit from the books.”

Others say that the ending was expected and there was much foreshadowing, but there were some things that made them think otherwise. As Elise Melody, ‘29 puts it, “I think it was expected because I feel like the beginning of the show was kind of just portrayed that Conrad was going to be the chosen one, but I also like how Belly kind of let him off or let him wait for her and the buildup of that, so I liked that.”

While some people didn’t like the ending, they found some hints that there might be more coming soon. And soon after the finale episode was released, there was news that a movie would be coming out.

Some people think the movie will be about the main character getting married to who she ended up with in the finale of the show.

The Cosmopolitan says, “And Jenny did say that the movie would tackle a “big milestone” in Belly’s life, so a wedding in Cousins definitely feels like a safe bet.”

Others think that it may not include much drama and just be a story about the main character getting married. Elise says, “I don’t know how much drama you can add, but I think it would be good just to see Belly’s marriage.”

Overall, the finale was disappointing for some, but also exciting for others. Also, the new movie coming out is exciting, and people are looking forward to maybe less drama and just a story about the main character getting married.
