Human Rights Club
Here at Cathedral Catholic High School there are over hundreds of clubs to join. A club that has made an impact in the community is the Human Rights Club run by Senior Blake Behmer.
The human rights club’s mission is to stand up for and protect those who are being oppressed, ensuring that every human has an equal opportunity to live out the rights that are endowed upon them. The club has been an active voice on campus raising money and awareness for Ukraine. All the proceeds raised by the Human Rights club will be distributed to non-partisan human rights organizations, advocating issues aligned with the HRC‘s initiatives, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, UNICEF and more. The club really cares about spreading awareness and educating others because they strongly support that everyone has a basic human right and educate people about equality.
El Cid Online caught up with President Blake Behmer to talk about the club, “The human rights club has really shown me the power of bringing people together for a common cause. Seeing the Cathedral Catholic community come together and fight for the rights of others teaches me how we can make a difference when we are united. Leading the Human Rights Club has been an unforgettable experience and I will carry the lessons I have learned with me forever.”
This club is led by passionate students who are going to make a positive impact on the world.
