Fall show opens tonight
November 7, 2019
The opening night of The Game’s Afoot presented by the Cathedral Catholic High School drama department takes place today at 7 p.m., along with another show tomorrow at 7 p.m. and two on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“This is the first time in a while we’ve featured a murder in a show,” CCHS actor Anthony Graf ‘22 said. “Additionally, it’s quite rare for CCHS to perform a mystery show.
“This is also the first show in many years to feature this small of a cast and no ensemble.”
The Game’s Afoot highlights William Gillette, a Broadway actor best known for portraying Sherlock Holmes. On closing night, he is shot in the arm. While in recovery, Gillette holds a Christmas celebration with his friends at his mansion. A murder occurs that night, and Gillette takes on the persona and skills of Sherlock Holmes in an attempt to solve the identity of the murder.
The play will be held in the Guadalupe Theatre on campus. Tickets are available for purchase on the Cathedral Catholic High School website, $18 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. CCHS students received an email containing a code for one complimentary ticket.
In attempt to advertise the show’s opening night, drama assistant director Miss Kelle Webb created unique QR codes posted around campus to introduce students to each character in the Christmas murder mystery.
