The Cathedral Catholic High School girls varsity softball team aspires to grow as a team and continue its success from the previous years.

“Our goals for the year are to come out and win some games and to grow together, as we are still a pretty young team,” CCHS pitcher Anna Herrmann ‘21 said.

CCHS is trying embrace “the next girl up” mentality, as the Lady Dons lost key players in the 2017-2018 Gatorade Player of the Year and UCLA pitcher Megan Faraimo ‘18 and Jacey Bourgeois ‘18, a Long Beach State University catcher.

“This year, our pitchers need to step up and prove to everyone that we can win without our dominant seniors from last year,” Herrmann said. “Having good defense and hitting will also play a big role too.”

The girls have competed in two straight California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section Open Division Championship games, leaving CCHS with an advantage against opposing teams.

The Lady Dons look to continue its success in league and county play this year.
