The Cathedral Catholic High School varsity boys wrestling team hopes to kick off a successful season, especially after losing key player Matt Vinci ’18.

Northwestern University attendee Vinci left his team with key advice, hoping the boys would continue the winning streak.

“Our biggest goals are to excel in our tournaments and in our matches,” CCHS wrestler Nico Salmeri ‘21 said. “We need to make sure we are well conditioned as well as practicing to perfect our moves.”

“Having Matt leaving was a setback, but we have skilled seniors and juniors that have helped us a lot this year,” Salmeri said.

Experience seems to be a recipe for success of the team, as so much of their talent can be accredited to upperclassmen.

“I think we will have an excellent year,” Salmeri said.
