Cathedral Catholic High School students Alexy Dinkha ‘20 and Alexander Carrieri ‘20 represented California and CCHS at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders over the summer in Boston, Massachusetts.
“At the Congress, the speakers talked about encouragement in the sciences,” Dinkha said. “When they talked about the future of science, they focused on artificial intelligence and the importance of not giving up.”
The Congress, which lasted over the course of three days, included appearances from speakers with prominent reputations in the scientific and technological fields, such as Dr. Sheldon Glashow, a Nobel Prize winning physicist, and Scott Flansburg, a math educator commonly referred to as the “Human Calculator”.
College admissions expert Dr. Deborah Bedor also made an appearance, helping the students feel much more confident in the college application process, Dinka said.
“Something the speakers talked about was never giving up and keeping your mind set to your goals,” Dinkha said. “They mentioned that even if you didn’t know what field you want to go into, you’ll figure it out. They taught us to just keep going.”
