The annual Senior Boat Dance is set to take place on Friday April 20th. Sign-ups for the event, which will take place on the “Marietta,” will begin when Cathedral resumes school after Easter Break.
Co-Senior Moderator and AP Government and Economics teacher Mr. Matt Baier said, “Seniors can sign up with me or Ms. Padget.”
The cost is $25, which includes food. Seniors must buy tickets by Thursday, the week of the dance. Tickets will not be sold at the boat.
Students must arrive on time, because, as Mr. Baier said, The boat actually leaves the dock and cruises around. If you show up late, we won’t be there.”
Seniors will board the ship near the downtown cruise ship terminal. When students sign up, they will receive a flyer with parking info.
Regarding attire, Mr. Baier said, “Students should look nice and be aware that it gets cold. The dance floor inside the boat can be warm, but the outside areas can be very chilly. Ladies should definitely wear comfortable shoes. I think jeans and a nice shirt would be great to wear.”
Mr. Baier said that he and Co-Senior Moderator and American Government and Sociology teacher Ms. Melissa Padgett have received positive feedback from seniors in years past.
“Seniors really enjoy the boat dance,” he said. “One of the best parts is that it is for seniors only, and I think they really appreciate it.”
“I recommend seniors attend the boat dance because we are getting nearer to the end of senior yea,r and it is a great opportunity to hang out with classmates before everyone graduates and many people leave for college,” Mr. Baier said. “Even if you don’t like dances, it is still fun to ride around San Diego harbor and see the sites.”
