With Thanksgiving Day just around the corner, Block 5 classes brought festive foods for the ASB food drive that ran from October 25th to November 12th. Each class brought a variety of foods including mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned yams, canned sweet potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, and $20 grocery store gift cards.
Gioia Kabel, ASB junior class vice president was extremely pleased with the results of the drive. She said, “We made two or three pickups, and we were glad to see so much food. There were overwhelming amounts!”
Now that collecting is complete, ASB moderator, Ms. Elizabeth Tysor, along with some ASB members, will deliver the food to an organization on Monday, November 22.
For this particular drive, ASB teamed up with the Catholic Charities Emergency Services organization. Gioia said that ASB has successfully worked with them and Father Joe’s Village in the past with related events and will continue to do so. She said, “We are always more than happy to work with Father Joe’s Village!”
