Stepping into service

In an effort to raise money and awareness for the local Rachel’s Women’s Center, the Cathedral Catholic High School National Honor Society will host a 5K run and walk called Dons Dash 2019 March 30 at CCHS.

“I encourage people to come to Dons Dash because it will be a fun community-building event that will go to a great cause,” Dons Dash organizer Mary Epperson ‘19 said.

The Rachel’s Women’s Center, a downtown homeless shelter that will receive the Dons Dash proceeds, assists homeless women and their children.

“They provide everything from day-care, medical screenings, fresh clothes, and employment opportunities [for the women], but they are in constant need for more funds to help support these life-changing programs,” Epperson said.

The event, its adult admission fee costing $15, will be Disney themed, and participants are highly encouraged to dress up in their most vibrant costumes.

“It’s an event for people of all ages, so everyone should invite their family members and neighbors as well,” Epperson said.
