Build the Kingdom at junior retreat
November 9, 2015
Juniors and their Campus Ministry leaders will depart for junior retreat today, Nov. 9 to Nov. 11 at Whispering Winds, a popular location for retreats in Julian, CA.
“Students can expect a fun weekend with their classmates, an opportunity to learn about their faith personally and a mix of surprises,” Assistant Director of Retreats, Ms. Marie Lopez, said.
Before leaving school and heading to the retreat site, juniors will attend a Mass together. The current retreat Campus Ministers hope to keep some elements of the retreat a surprise for the junior class. The overall retreat will focus on building the kingdom and bonding as class.
Students attending the retreat have received information regarding what to pack, where to meet and more. Besides bringing essential items, students are encouraged to come to retreat with an an open mind and heart.
“[I advise juniors to] be open to the new experiences they will have, to branch out and make connections with juniors they might not know and to have fun,” retreat Campus Minister Katherine Firsching said.
The junior retreat acts as a way for students to grow together spiritually as a class. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these bonding opportunities and faith formation activities.
During the school year, there are two junior retreats, which are optional for juniors to attend. Both of them are filled up due to the large amount of students wanting to go; however, there is still a wait list.
The juniors will be in the school community’s prayers as they embark on their retreat later today.
