Cathedral Catholic High School’s Campus Ministers will host a school-wide Mass in honor of St. Charles Borromeo on Nov. 4, his feast day.

“Saints are role models in our faith,” senior Megan Lowrie said. “They are people that remain strong in their faith, and we should follow their example.”

St. Charles Borromeo is known among Catholics for combating the Protestant Reformation and for making significant reforms to the Catholic Church.  Students can learn from him, especially at times when their faith feels challenged. The Mass this Wednesday is an opportunity for students to both reflect on the life of saints like St. Charles Borromeo and also to grow closer to God.

During the Mass, the Gospel verse will come from John 15:1-8. The Gospel is an analogy of the vine and the branches. Like the saints, people are called to be the branches of God and have their faith rooted in Him.

“[The Mass] is about a connection back to Jesus,” Director of Liturgies Mrs. Blackstone-Gardner said.  “[Catholics] are called to connect back to the saints and other mentors.”

Saints are acknowledged as holy people living in Heaven. They serve as reminders of how to live a holy life. Students are encouraged to participate in the Mass and to follow the example of saints like St. Charles Borromeo.

This past Sunday was All Saints’ Day, a day Catholics celebrate Mass in honor of saints like St. Charles Borromeo.
