The Class of 2012 bled red last Friday for the annual Homecoming Rally. Though red is the designated senior class color, it is rare to see every person in the color to support their class, but the seniors had something special to share with the school during the rally.
Spirited, excited, ecstatic, the seniors anxiously awaited their time to shine. The senior privilege to outdo the underclassmen during the “class cheers” competition is one that the seniors have been waiting for since freshmen year, and this class made sure they shocked the students and faculty with their pride.
As seniors watched the “Mission Control”-themed rally, whispers flew and feet stomped with excitement. Some seniors were worried their plan wouldn’t work, while others weren’t even sure how they would manage to execute the plan successfully. This plan, which had been prepared for over a week by ASB Executive President Alex Le through word of mouth among the senior class, would allow the Class of 2012 to make CCHS history.
“Cathedral, you know how it goes. Each class will yell ‘OUR HOUSE’, and whoever is the loudest gets to lunch first. Teachers, we’ll start with you!” shouted ASB Executive Vice President Aubrianna Butler. A sense of spirit and pride flooded over the senior section.
The freshmen attempted to yell their lungs out, sophomores stomped their feet, and juniors stood up and screamed. But none of their efforts could compare to those of the seniors. When it came time, Prince of Egypt music blew out of the speakers in the gym, and senior Patrick Downing emerged from the side of the gym dressed as Moses.
Dressed in a large beard and a white robe and holding a tall staff, Downing took control of the senior class as he gave them the signal to start doing the wave. The seniors didn’t stop screaming or cheering for a second. Suddenly, Downing pounded the squeaky gym floor with his staff, and the senior class split right down the middle. Success. He had parted the senior’s sea of red.
The entire gym erupted into cheers as the seniors pulled off the memorable stunt.

To Alex Le and the entire senior class:
You have pulled off a tremendous feat…this parting of the Red Sea will be talked about for decades to come…I was so impressed…blown away to the max…
I don’t see how the juniors are going to top this next year…
