Three-time Olympic medalist, two time world game medalist, Frentorish “Tori” Bowie, has died at age 32. On the morning of May 3rd her management team confirmed her death after she was found in her home. Cause of death is unknown.

Kapiolani Coleman 23’; Cathedral Track & Field captain and University of Washington commit says, “I first saw a post on Instagram about her death, I gasped out loud. I was in complete shock and thought about the time that I was able to meet her in person. She was such an inspiration, even though she went through a lot of tough times. I didn’t even know what to say or do but then more and more posts kept coming up which made me so sad.”

USA Track & Field shared via Twitter: “…Her impact on the sport is immeasurable, and she will be greatly missed.” Coleman added, “I think that her death has, and will affect the Track community very greatly because she ran and won many Olympics and world championships, which has made her an icon in the Track world. Even though she hasn’t been running for the past couple years because of her mental health issues, she still was on various relay teams, and on teams with a variety of Olympians that are running today. Also, a lot of Olympians have posted how sad they were and condolences to her family which I believe has made them dwell on her loss.”

Bowie began her professional track and field career in 2013. Here is a list of her key achievements over her career:

World 100m bronze medalist (2015)
Olympic 4x100m champion (2016)
Olympic 100m silver medalist (2016)

World 100m champion (2017)
World 4x100m champion (2017)

She was born in Mississippi on August 27, 1990 and would have been 33 in a few months. May she rest in peace.
