Many girls soccer players are optimistic and excited to begin this season as they look to improve upon last year’s achievements.
Kendall Kraus, a starting forward, thinks that this year’s team will have a lot of chemistry. “We are all really excited for this season, especially because we became a family and love playing together,” she said.
A significant presence of underclassmen includes five sophomores who made the team as freshman last year. Senior flair is also significant; team leaders Christina Eichinger, Jamie Schneder, and Elya Jasper have already committed to collegiate teams.
Outside left midfielder Christina Eichinger thinks that the team is as close as it has ever been and that this closeness should lead to an unstoppable team. “Everyone gets along so well. We bond a lot because of all our away games, and throughout the season we spend a lot of time together. We’re all really good friends outside soccer of as well,” she said.
The Lady Dons soccer team looks to improve this year after losing in last year’s semi-finals of the Division III playoffs. The girls lost with a final score of 0-2, and both goals were scored in the last 5 minutes of the game. This year, the girls hope to win a CIF 2011 Championship and feel like this goal is in reach.
Sophomore Jessica Bakan said, “I am really looking forward to this season. We should be a kickin’ team this year. We have our five returning freshmen varsity girls, plus the other returners, all ready to play together again. Add in a few new possibilities, and we’ve got a CIF-caliber team. It’s going to be great to play with my girls again!”
