Bells are ringing for students to submit musical talent

Sydney Calhoun, Staff Writer

Ms. Jessica Swift encourages composers, songwriters, and musicians to submit an original piece they wish to showcase in the 2015 Holiday Performance.

“Students should submit to the contest to help them grow as songwriters, to give them exposure, and to introduce them to other talented musicians at the school,” Tate Haynes ‘17 said. “It is open to experienced musicians just as much as beginners who are looking to get their name out there.”

As the stores are filling up with red and green, the theme for this year’s show is “Peace on Earth.”

The deadline is Monday, Nov. 30. Submissions of any genre are to be recorded or notated. Hard copies are to be brought to Ms. Swift in GC5. Any online entries are to be sent to [email protected] as an MP3 file or private YouTube video.

The winners will be selected and invited to play alongside the Cathedral Catholic High School orchestra, band and Campus Ministry Schola at the winter show on Dec. 8. Any further inquiries should be directed towards Ms. Swift through email.
