Drama department opens auditions for fall production, Midsummer/Jersey

The Cathedral Catholic High School Drama Department will host auditions for the upcoming play, Midsummer Jersey, starting August 25-27 in the Guadalupe Center.

“My message to students is to not be shy, as newcomers are always welcome in my productions,” Drama teacher Ms. Katie Wilson said.

Students auditioning will present a one-minute monologue of a contemporary or Shakespearean sonnet. In addition, students may be asked to read from a script, especially those who are “called back” on August 28-29.

“Don’t be nervous and be confident. Find material that works for you, and don’t worry about a monologue that you would think Ms. Wilson wouldn’t like,” senior Nicholas Blischak said.

Students are encouraged to sign up for their audition online. Audition candidates will need to supply a picture of themselves, as well as their prior semester grades. If they have a performance resume, they should bring it along with them, too.

Students who are interested in the technical set-up of the play, or “Drama Tech,” should attend an informational meeting August 26 at 2:30 p.m. in Ms. Wilson’s room (GC6).
