School spirit trumps quarantine blues

As the Cathedral Catholic High School community adapts to online learning due to the Coronavirus pandemic, CCHS is making an extra effort to stay strong through these anxiety-filled times by creating an online environment that keeps the community connected with Instagram takeovers and a virtual spirit week starting today.

“We already have a strong community,” CCHS Director of Marketing and Communications Mrs. Anne Majer said. “While we took our learning and teaching to an online platform we had to get creative in how to continue to build our community.”

With the day off school on yesterday, today kicks off the beginning of Virtual Spirit Week with a theme of Hawaiian shirts followed by a Disney theme on Wednesday. For class on Thursday, students can stay in their pajamas while working from home and show school spirit on Friday by wearing a red CCHS polo or spirit shirt.

“We are all trying to figure out our new normal and we thought having a virtual spirit week would be fun and uplifting,” Mrs. Majer said. “It is important to stay connected to one another during these times.”
