Despite possible fire risks and power outages throughout the Julian area, Cathedral Catholic High School students will travel as planned to Whispering Winds Catholic Camp for Junior Retreat today.

“We’ve contacted Whispering Winds and their power is still on,” Dean of Mission and Ministry Mrs. Stacy Wells said. “[Whispering Winds staff] have a relationship with the power company because they are a safe haven in the event of an emergency.

“So if the power goes out, they actually drop generators off at Whispering Winds.”

The first junior retreat of the 2019-2020 school year, the retreat starts at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon when its attendees depart from CCHS.

“Everybody’s pretty confident that we’ve checked that everything’s going to be okay,” Mrs. Wells said, “so the retreat will continue as planned.”
