Open for business

In order to give a well-deserved home to the growing beach volleyball teams on campus, Cathedral Catholic High School recently built new sand volleyball courts adjacent to the baseball field after an anonymous donation.

Although spacing setbacks nearly stalled construction, the courts took only five months to build after construction began last winter.

“We thought we were going to have to shift one of the courts, but the lines that were down were for indoor, not sand,” said Mr. Michael Trunzo, the director of major gifts and planned giving.

Luckily sidestepping the setback, the courts opened right on time for the boys sand volleyball season. In the future, CCHS parents, students, and staff will have an opportunity to attend a court blessing, taking place sometime in October.

“I look forward to introducing the CCHS community to the new athletic addition,” Mr. Trunzo said.
