The Dons varsity football team shut down the top-ranked Helix High Scotties with a final score of 16-9 on Friday, September 14th. All-around phenomenal plays from the Dons led them to the victory over the #1 ranked team, also the only team to defeat Cathedral last season.
The Dons held a tight game against Helix, barely hanging on until the second half with a disheartening score of 9-0. Senior, Christian Fanning kicked a 31 yard field goal in the third quarter and a 42 yard field goal in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 9-9.
Another star player on the night of the game, Parker Price, achieved a personal record of three interceptions, as well as a game-winning touchdown punt return in the fourth quarter.
Price confirmed that practice does, indeed make perfect when he said, “I’ve been figuring out how to return punts, and we’ve been working on it.”
Price’s 82 yard return secured the game for the Cathedral Catholic Dons with a final score of 16-9.
