The streets of downtown San Diego were filled with about 20,000 marchers on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the third annual San Diego Women’s March. Locals, all holding signs, gathered at the Waterfront Park near the County Administration Building on Saturday morning. The event began at 10 a.m. with musical performances and speeches from local leaders. This year’s march, which was themed Truth to Power, was aimed at supporting issues such as women’s rights, civil and disability rights, ending violence, environmental justice immigrant rights, LGBTQIA rights, reproductive rights, and workers’ rights. The march itself began at 12 p.m., following a 1.34 mile route along Harbor Drive, looping up Pacific Highway, and ending at the Waterfront Park. Participants, marching for an array of diverse issues, all possessed hopeful spirits for a future filled with change.
