Meet the passionate, beloved, and enthusiastic Spanish teacher, Mrs. Mahoney. With a love for language, culture, and her students, Mrs. Mahoney brings lots of fun, guidance, and encouragement to her classroom. Through different projects, class games, and activities she fosters an engaging and exciting learning environment where students not only gain the knowledge of the Spanish language but leadership qualities and close relationships.
Mrs. Mahoney has been a teacher on campus for several years. She expresses that her favorite memory so far is in general, Friday night lights. She says “I love seeing all the kids, cheerleaders, dancers, players, and parents coming together to have fun each Friday.” Along with that she also mentions how special it is “Seeing all the younger siblings hanging out and throwing footballs in the null.” She believes “It really represents our community here on campus.”
If you didn’t already know Mrs. Mahoney has two boys on campus, Beck ‘24 and Sully Mahoney ‘27. She jokes, “I love having them here, though I’m not sure if they feel the same way!”, and adds, “Seeing them around campus, seeing their friends in the hallways and knowing what goes on at school, it really helps me stay more connected to them.” Mrs. Mahoney is known for making special connections with her students as well as being truly connected to her kids.
Mrs. Mahoney’s class has always been deemed as fun but she shares a funny story about a couple of her students during her first year of teaching; “During my first year, I had two boys who would play pranks on each other, one day one of the boys hid the other’s shoe and we spent the whole class looking for it until we found it on top of the shelf.” She states, “Days like those make it really fun to be a teacher!”
When Mrs. Mahoney isn’t working as an outstanding Spanish teacher, she says, “I am always watching high school sports and my boy’s sports games.” She recently has been filling her time with a new house remodel, “I am constantly picking new things out for our house.” When her boys aren’t on the field Mrs. Mahoney says she tries to “Go hiking every weekend with [her] girlfriends.”
Mrs. Mahoney is truly an asset to our campus and we are so lucky to have someone as caring, educating, and guiding as her in our community!
