Famine, disease, death, evacuations and the threat of nuclear war are all terrible facts of life perpetuated by politics. I’m Tommy Lyle Temple, and I will be writing the political column for El Cid. Politics make the world go ‘round, often determining life or death for countries and peoples. “Politics” is defined as “the activities associated with the government of a country, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.” This definition focuses on the struggle for power, which is at the heart of politics, and it will be discussed in The World As We Know It, along with the political struggle festering around the world.
