The Cathedral Catholic Baseball team is currently looking to improve their eight-game winning streak as they look to clinch the first seed in the Western League with a win today against Mira Mesa at 3:30 at our baseball field. “No one was expecting to be were we are right now, being three games ahead of second place(Saints.) Of course we expected to win but after that devastating loss to Scripps in the League opener, we took that loss as something we can learn from, and look where it has gotten us,”Junior pitcher Jordan Chang said with a chuckle.

The Dons beat Saints for the third consecutive game this Monday as they blew them out in an away game managing to thrive on to finalize the score 8-0. After starting the first two innings all tied up, the Dons scored at least one run in each remaining inning to beat the Saintsmen in a complete shutout.

“It felt great to beat them every game this year and for us as a team, it was a priority we wanted to do and we accomplished it, so we can’t be any more proud of each other,” said Junior catcher Jack Harris.

Their next game, yesterday, against Mira Mesa was also away, and the Dons knew they needed to capitalize with a win. The Dons wasted no time at all as they scored a run in the first inning and added two more in the fourth to end the game 3-0. Senior Jacob Mullin had an amazing game as he scored two of the three runs in the game. Junior Preston Price added the last one in the fourth.

Junior shortstop Quinn Hoffman said, “It was a huge win for us and we have to keep that same mindset for today. A lot of credit to Jacob Mullin who started the way and finished it as he notched up two runs for us. We will have the same mindset and same attitude going into today’s game, and hopefully we come out victorious.”
