After months of ASB’s careful planning, Prom season has finally arrived. After selling hundreds of Board and Brew sandwiches to fundraise, the junior class, who plans prom, can finally breathe sighs of relief. The venue at the Zoo has been secured, decorations designed, and food for the evening ordered. Most non-ASB students are prepared for this Saturday’s event as well. Dates have been asked, tuxedos and corsages ordered, dresses and tickets purchased. With one day until the dance, there remains one last item to be checked off everyone’s Prom to-do list: vote for Prom king and queen. Here are the nominees:

 Bri Rotherham

-Will attend UC Berkeley next year

-Cheer Captain, Dive Captain

-NHS Communications officer

-Leader of St. Jude’s Angel’s club

“My best memory of this year is senior retreat. We had this huge food fight and we were all covered in chocolate syrup, flour, whipped cream, paint and we were just going crazy having a blast. It was cool to be with the senior class on such a great retreat and make some wonderful and silly memories!”

 

Colleen Grainger

-Undecided where she will attend college next year but will most likely study engineering

-Soccer and campus ministry retreat are the activities she is most proud to be part of

-Also enjoys cooking and baking and is “always open for an adventure!”

“I’ve been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. All the girls on my club team are like my sisters and I can rely on them for anything. At school, ‘campus min’ has made me so excited about my faith and helped me grow as a person in ways I didn’t expect.”

 

Tina LaMar

-Undecided about college but would like to pursue theater

-Has been very involved in theater throughout high school

-Starred in spring musical as Dolly in Hello Dolly

-Participated in the Young Playwright’s Festival with her twin sister, directing an original play.

-Enjoys working on plays and spending time with friends.

“When I was nominated I was super surprised and then really honored!”

 

Casey Toohill

-Will attend Stanford University

-Plays football at Cathedral and recreational basketball at the Ocean Air rec center

-Volunteers at St. James Church

-Said that he enjoys yoga and long walks on the beach

“I was excited and honored to be nominated. I also called all of my extended family.”

 

Karl Schlaht

-Will attend University of Notre Dame

-NHS president

-Ambassador for Christ

-President of the Native American Cultural Heritage Club

-Eagle Scout

“[My] favorite high school memory is senior retreat.”

 

Jordan McBrayer

-Will attend Regis University

-Ambassador for Christ

-Member of 5-year strategic planning committee

-Prosecuting attorney on mock trial team

-Plays varsity golf at Cathedral and rec basketball at Ocean Air

“My first reaction [to being nominated for the court] was shock because I never thought a teacher would pick me.”
