The Cathedral Catholic High School competition cheerleading team recently placed 14th at the USA Spirit Nationals after competing against 30 other high school squads at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“Although the team did great, we had an injury, so we were not at full strength,” varsity cheer coach Mr. Keith Lewis said. “Our stunting ability and team health are two things we will focus on next season.”

The event attracted teams from throughout the United States, and it consists of approximately 7,500 competitors.

“After going to our first competition, which was for CIF, I feel more confident in my skills and my ability to progress in places I never would’ve imagined,” CCHS competition cheerleader Breck Blandford ‘22 said. “To improve for next year, I definitely think that I can try to become sharper and cleaner with my actions. I think that all of the girls are really close on this team, and we did great at our last competition, as well.”
