Best-selling author and expert of neurophysiology Dr. John Ratey, who hopes to inform students and parents about wellness in teenagers and adults, will speak to the Cathedral Catholic High School community today in the Guadalupe Center.

“It’s Cathedral Catholic’s first year in the WeCare program, and we’re trying to raise parent awareness as well as student awareness about wellness,” CCHS Dean of Counseling and Wellness Mrs. Ashley Bascom said. “We’re trying to raise awareness of both the physical wellness and how that will affect the wellness of the mind.”

WeCare, a San Diego program of independent schools which presents renowned speakers for school communities, invites all schools apart of the program to join the presentation, including Our Lady of Peace, Francis Parker School, The Bishop’s School, and more.

His expertise as a clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard University shining through, Dr. Ratey’s books Go Wild and Spark explore the connections of mental and physical health.

“We want to involve parents and families in this discussion, and being a new part of this program should offer great opportunities now and many more to come,” Mrs. Bascom said.
