Holiday donations

Cathedral Catholic High School mission and ministry currently is promoting a new and used blanket drive for San Diego’s homeless population at St. Vincent de Paul. The drive ends Dec. 11.

“This drive is the last of a three-pronged drive,” Dean of Mission and Ministry Mrs. Stacy Wells said. “We had outstanding turnout with our last drive that collected canned food. More than 4,000 food products were donated by our school alone and delivered to Catholic Charities.”

The recent toy drive for Rady Children’s Hospital and the canned food drive preceded this month’s blanket collection. The winning class of the canned food drive, Mr. Ryan Wiegand’s Red 1 math class, will receive Chick-fil-A as a reward from the Associated Student Body.

The Dons homelessness awareness group is putting on the drive to keep those people who need warmth during the Christmas season. Donations for the blanket drive can be given to each student’s Red 1 classroom.
