While not many students at Cathedral Catholic High School are fond of the dress code, Mr. Christopher Greene, the new Dean of Students, wishes for students to remember that the administration is not out to harass them, but to keep the rules in place.

“I understand students and staff don’t prefer enforcing the dress code, but it is important to keep civilized rules,” Mr. Greene said. “I want students to understand, not think I’m mean or want to pick on them, but that I’m just doing my job. I want to be the enforcer and disciplinary role, but establish positive relationships at the same time.”

Mr. Greene is now the head of the discipline department, the branch directly involved with the student body. This branch holds authority on dress code and student misbehavior, something Mr. Greene anticipates respect in return from the students.

Gaining respect appears to be a simple task for Mr. Greene, as this ambitious dean is fitting in well. “We think he’s doing a great job,” said Marisa Rogers and Sharalle Nunes, the attendance office secretaries.

Brought by his faith to this role, Mr. Greene is new to working at a private high school. Coming from San Diego’s public school system, he previously taught history and coached baseball in Escondido. CCHS has a stricter dress code than he’s accustomed to, but Mr. Greene is not allowing this to affect his performance.

“I want to do a lot of listening and observing to learn how things are done [here],” Mr. Greene said. “I want to respect the traditions of CCHS and understand what it means to be here.”
