After firing 1-under 35 on the front 9, sophomore Madisen Miller coasted en route to a share of the lead with 75 at Balboa Park Golf Course on the first day of competition at the City Conference Tournament. “Once I hit the pin from 120 yards on number 15, I knew it was my day,” Miller said. “Now, I must not get too high or too low and remember that this is a two-day tourney.” In addition to hitting the pin, Miller recorded a birdie on the par 5 second hole to cap a steady front nine. Junior Jackie Garcia and senior Alli Williams fared well for CCHS, firing 80 and 83 respectively to finish in the top 10. The two-day annual tournament crowns the city champion by matching the top 64 players from the Eastern and Western Leagues. April Ranches of Serra High School leads with Miller. Day two continues today at the same venue.
